Kópavogur is a small town on the outskirts of Reykjavík, Iceland’s capital. Although it’s close to the city, Kópavogur has a rural feel, with wide open spaces and an abundance of wildlife. It’s a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of Reykjavík, and there are plenty of things to do in the area, from hiking and fishing to whale watching and bird watching. The town is also home to Kópavogur Art Museum, which houses a collection of Icelandic and international art, and the Kópavogur Heritage Museum, which tells the story of the town’s history. There are a few restaurants and cafes in Kópavogur, as well as a supermarket and a few other shops, and the town is well connected to Reykjavík by bus.
