Broad Street in Nevada City, California, on May 31, 2020. The historic buildings along Broad Street in the former mining town of Nevada City are part of the“Nevada City Downtown Historic District”. The city was founded as “Nevada” by European immigrants in 1849, during the California Gold Rush. In 1850–51, it was the most important mining town in the state. In 1864, the word “City” was added to the name to relieve confusion with the nearby state of Nevada. | Nevada City in United States
