Oruro is a city in the Andes of Bolivia, near the western border with Chile. It is the capital of the Oruro Department. Oruro has a population of about 305,000. The city is the home of the Bolivian National Congress and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Oruro. Oruro is also the birthplace of the La Paz-Oruro Carnival, the biggest and most famous carnival in Bolivia.
