Albacete is a city in southern Spain, and the capital of the province of Albacete. The city is located in the comarca of Campo de Montiel, in the judicial district of Albacete. It is the largest city in the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha.
The population of Albacete was 218,210 as of 2009. The area of the municipality is 858.61 km². The city is surrounded by the municipalities of Almansa, Hellín, Yeste, Tobarra and Motilla del Palancar. Albacete is situated in a valley surrounded by mountains. The river Júcar flows through the city.
The climate of Albacete is a hot-summer Mediterranean climate (Csa in the Köppen climate classification).
