Terrassa is a Catalan city in the province of Barcelona, in the autonomous community of Catalonia, in northeastern Spain. It is the second-largest city in the province, after Barcelona, and the seventeenth-largest city in Spain. The city is located in the Vallès Occidental region, on the southern slopes of the Muntanya Pelada.
The economy of Terrassa is based on industry, especially textiles, metalworking, and engineering. The city is also home to the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, a public university.
Terrassa is served by the Barcelona–Madrid high-speed rail line, and also has a station on the Barcelona commuter rail line.
