Dehradun is a city located in the Garhwal region of the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is the administrative capital of the Dehradun district and is the second most populous city in the state after Haridwar.
The city is famous for its pleasant climate, natural surroundings and temples. It is also a major educational and training centre in India, with more than a hundred engineering and medical colleges.
The city is well connected to the rest of India by road and rail networks. Dehradun Airport is located at Jolly Grant, about 20 kilometres from the city centre.
