Ujjain is an ancient city in central India, on the banks of the Kshipra River. It is one of the oldest and most important cities in India, and is the capital of the Malwa region. The city is home to the Mahakaleshwar Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, and is a major pilgrimage center for Shaivites. It is also the birthplace of the Hindu deity Maha Vishnu. The city is also home to the Vikram University, the largest university in Madhya Pradesh.
