Vadodara is an ancient city in the Indian state of Gujarat. The city is the administrative headquarters of Vadodara District and the third largest city in Gujarat, after Ahmedabad and Surat. Formerly known as Baroda, the city is home to the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, the largest university in Gujarat. It is also the home of the Vadodara Stock Exchange, the only stock exchange in Gujarat. The Vadodara Municipal Corporation is the civic body of the city. The city is well known for the Laxmi Vilas Palace, the residence of the Gaekwad dynasty.
