Diego GarciaOnly populated by military personnel.
Diego Garcia is a small, isolated island in the middle of the Indian Ocean, and the most remote inhabited island in the world. The island is a British Overseas Territory, and is home to a small military base and a few hundred civilian contractors. The island is best known for its role in the Vietnam War, as the site of a secret American airbase. Today, the island is a popular tourist destination, thanks to its unspoiled beaches and crystal-clear waters.
