Bam is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the Kerman Province of Iran. The city is well known for its ancient fortress, the Arg-e Bam, which was built in the 6th century AD by the Sasanian Empire. The city has been the subject of many earthquakes throughout its history, the most devastating of which occurred in December 2003.
