Kermanshah is a city in western Iran. It is the capital of Kermanshah Province. At the 2006 census, its population was 851,405, in 221,898 families. The majority of the population are Kurds.
The city is located in the Zagros Mountains. The city is well known for its natural beauty and historical monuments. The city is also the birthplace of the famous Persian poet Saadi.
