Qazvin is one of the oldest cities in Iran, dating back to the 11th century BC. The city is home to many historical sites, including the 12th-century Golestan Palace, the 17th-century Qazvin bazaar and the 18th-century Cheshmeh Ali hill. Qazvin is also known for its many tile-makers and for the blue tiles that decorate many of its historical buildings. The city is a major transportation hub, with a railway connecting it to Tehran and Tabriz, and an international airport serving both Tehran and Istanbul. Qazvin is also home to several universities and a major medical center.
