Zanjan is a city in northwestern Iran. It is the capital of Zanjan Province. Zanjan has a population of about 1,300,000. The city is about 520 km (320 mi) northwest of Tehran, and about 120 km (75 mi) south of the Caspian Sea.
Zanjan is known for its metalwork, pottery, and carpets. The city is also famous for its handicrafts, including copperware, enamelware, knives, and traditional Iranian toys.
