Kota Bharu is a small city in northeastern Malaysia that is best known as the gateway to the Perhentian Islands, a popular scuba diving and snorkeling destination. The city is also home to a few interesting historical sites, including the Istana Kenangan, a palace that was once home to the Sultans of Kelantan, and the Kota Bharu Museum, which has exhibits on the city's history and culture. Kota Bharu is also a great place to shop for traditional Malay textiles and handicrafts.
