Lezhë

Lezhë is a small town in northwestern Albania, situated on the coast of the Ionian Sea. It is the seat of the Lezhë County. The town is located on the Shengjin Peninsula, at the mouth of the river Bojana, and is the only urban center of the county.

Lezhë is a town with a rich history. It was first mentioned in a letter by Pope Innocent III in 1202, as a town in the possession of the countess of Ventimiglia. The Venetians conquered the town in the early 14th century, and it became an important center of trade and commerce. The town was also ruled by the Ottomans, who called it Elbasan, and the Venetians, who called it Alessio.
