Yeghegnadzor

Yeghegnadzor is a small town in the Vayots Dzor Province of Armenia. It is located on the banks of the Vorotan River, at the foot of the mountains of the same name. The town is best known for its proximity to the monastery of Tatev, one of the most important centres of medieval Armenian culture. The monastery is reachable by a 9 km (5.6 mi) long aerial tramway, the longest in the world. Yeghegnadzor is also home to the Garni Temple, a well-preserved Hellenistic temple dedicated to the sun god Mithra.
