Uster is a small town in the canton of Zurich in Switzerland. It is located on the Thur River, about 10 km (6 mi) east of the city of Zurich. It has a population of about 17,000. The town is home to the Uster Technologies company, one of the world's leading manufacturers of machinery for the production of nonwoven fabrics. It is also home to the headquarters of the Swiss company Rieter, the world's largest manufacturer of spinning machinery.
