Las Terrazas is a unique eco-village in Cuba, founded in 1971 as part of Fidel Castro's efforts to promote sustainable development. The village is located in the Sierra del Rosario, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The village was designed by the Cuban architect Fernando Ortiz and is built in the traditional style of the peasant villages of the Sierra Maestra.
Las Terrazas is set in a beautiful natural environment, with coffee plantations, bamboo forests and waterfalls. The village has a visitor centre, art gallery, craft workshops and a small museum. There are also a number of restaurants and bars, and a hotel.
Las Terrazas is a great place to experience traditional Cuban culture and to enjoy the natural beauty of the Sierra del Rosario.
