Pinar del Rio

Pinar del Rio is the westernmost province of Cuba, and is known for its tobacco production. The Vuelta Abajo region is considered to be the best tobacco-growing land in the world, and La Habana is the capital of the cigar industry. The first tobacco plantations in Pinar del Rio were established in the 18th century, and the province is now home to more than 30,000 tobacco growers.

The province is also home to some of Cuba’s most stunning scenery. The Sierra del Rosario mountain range, which runs along the province’s eastern border, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Valle de Viñales is a national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park is known for its dramatic limestone cliffs, caves, and subterranean rivers, and is also home to a wide variety of plant and animal life.
