This calm beach resort on Gran Canaria's southwest coast has an 800-meter stretch of white coral sand, protected swimming waters and a seafront promenade with restaurants.
Amadores sits in southwest Gran Canaria, where an 800-meter white coral sand beach curves around a sheltered bay. You can swim in the calm waters, walk along the seafront promenade, or watch the sun set behind Mount Teide. The Caribbean-imported coral sand stays cool even in summer, making it comfortable to walk barefoot throughout the day.
Swimming and Beach Activities
You can swim and float safely in Amadores Beach's protected waters. Two breakwaters keep the bay calm throughout the year by blocking strong currents. While the beach doesn't allow ball games and loud music, you can go parasailing, scuba diving, and jet skiing in designated areas.
Beach Facilities and Services
The beach has held Blue Flag status since 2004. Lifeguards work from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM in summer and until 5:00 PM in winter. You'll find fresh water showers, toilets, changing rooms, and sun loungers for rent. The beachfront promenade includes restaurants and shops, with small supermarkets selling basic supplies.
Access for All
Wooden pathways lead to the water at Amadores Beach, with amphibious chairs available for swimming and handrails for support. You can reach the beach using ramps, and find adapted toilets and shower facilities. The flat promenade makes it easy to move around the entire beachfront area.
Getting Around
Buses run every 20 minutes between Amadores and nearby towns including Puerto Rico, Maspalomas, Playa del Ingles, and Mogan. You'll find the bus stop two minutes from the beach entrance. If you drive, choose between street-level and underground parking near the beach.
Coastal Walks
A paved path connects Amadores to Puerto Rico resort, about one kilometer away. Walking along the cliff-top route, you'll see the ocean and neighboring bays. On clear days, Mount Teide on Tenerife appears in the distance. The walk takes about 45 minutes each way with photo stops.
Dining and Refreshments
Restaurants line the covered promenade along the beach, serving local seafood and international dishes. Many have terraces where you can eat while looking out over the beach and watching the sunset. You'll find bars and cafes selling cold drinks and light meals throughout the day.
