El Palmeral Park in Alicante spans 72,000 square meters of Mediterranean gardens with over 2,000 palm trees. Row boats on artificial lakes, let children explore multiple playgrounds with zip lines and swings, or cycle on the BMX track. This green space near the coast connects to two quiet beaches through an underground tunnel.

Palm Tree Gardens

More than 2,000 palm trees from the Arecaceae family grow throughout the park, with date palms reaching heights of up to 20 meters. Gravel paths wind through the different levels of the park. Wooden bridges stretch across artificial rivers, letting you explore different sections of the gardens.

Lake and Waterfalls

A central lake sits at the heart of the park. You can rent rowing boats for 15-minute trips by leaving an ID as deposit. Small artificial rivers and waterfalls run throughout the park, helping cool the air during hot days. The lake's design includes narrow passages and open areas for varied rowing experiences.

Playgrounds

The park has three play areas with swings, climbing frames, and a zip wire. A BMX course winds through one section, while two football pitches and outdoor exercise equipment occupy another area. You can play boules or try the oversized board games like chess and ludo, available at no cost.

Daily Performances

Since 1997, the park's bandstand has hosted regular performances including puppet shows, theater productions, and children's entertainment. Shows typically begin at 12:30 PM, with new programs each week.

Nearby Beaches

Walk through the underground tunnel beneath the motorway to reach two beaches. Cala de Ali beach lies directly across from the tunnel exit. Continue 500 meters along the coast toward Alicante to reach Playa de San Gabriel, a small swimming beach.

Opening Hours and Access

The park opens daily from 9 AM to 10 PM in winter and until 11 PM in summer. A café serves drinks and snacks, and public restrooms are available. Dogs are not allowed inside. Buses 1, 27, and the airport bus C6 stop at the park entrance from Alicante city center.

What people say about Parque El Palmeral

I gave the park 4 stars because I imagine it must be a beautiful place in season. But when I'm here in the beginning of February, the water canals are dry and reconstruction is taking place :-)

Despite that, it was still a nice place to be! There are several cats roaming around the park, birds, and even in winter it's not too cold to relax on one of the benches, read a book and almost fall asleep.
