Palikir
Surrounded by deep forests, volcanoes, and surf-friendly beaches.Palikir is the capital of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), a country made up of more than 600 islands in the western Pacific. The majority of the population lives on the island of Pohnpei, where Palikir is located. Despite its small size, Palikir is the seat of the FSM’s national government and the home of the country’s only university. The town is surrounded by lush rainforest and beautiful beaches and is a great place to relax and soak up the local culture. There’s not a lot to do in Palikir itself, but it’s a great base for exploring the rest of the FSM.
