Haiti
An essential part of the Caribbean.
Haiti is located in the Caribbean and is bordered by the Dominican Republic and Cuba. The official language is French, but many Haitians also speak Creole.
The capital, Port-au-Prince, is a bustling city with a lot to see and do. Other places of interest include the Citadelle Laferrière, a fortress built in the early 19th century, and the Sans-Souci Palace, a former royal palace. Sadly the country has struggled a lot due to both natural disasters and unrest in the past few decades.
The cuisine is a mix of French, African, and Caribbean influences. Some popular dishes include griot (fried pork), Haiti (a type of soup), and pikliz (a spicy slaw).
