Kure is a small town in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, located on the Inland Sea. As of March 2015, the town had an estimated population of 9,837 and a population density of 410 persons per km². The total area is 24.33 square kilometres. Kure is best known as the home of the Kure Naval Arsenal, which was the largest naval arsenal in the empire and produced many of Japan's World War II warships.
Today, the city is home to the Kure Maritime Museum, which preserves and displays many artifacts from the arsenal's history. The city also has a small aquarium, the Kure Ocean Tower. Kure is also the birthplace of manga artist Go Nagai.
