Kostanay is a city in northern Kazakhstan. It's located on the Tobol River, about midway between the cities of Astana and Oskemen. Kostanay is a regional commercial and transportation center, with a population of more than 310,000. The city has a diverse economy, with light industry, agriculture, and trade represented. Kostanay is also home to the Kostanay State University and a number of other institutions of higher education. The city is notable for its many parks and green spaces, which include a botanical garden and a zoo.
