Taldykorgan is a small city in the southeast of Kazakhstan, on the border with Kyrgyzstan. It's a commercial and transportation center for the surrounding agricultural region. The city has a number of old and interesting buildings, including a Russian Orthodox cathedral, and is a good base for exploring the surrounding countryside. There are also a few small museums, and a bazaar where you can buy traditional Kazakh crafts.
