Mauren is a sleepy village in the heart of Liechtenstein, overlooked by the towering peaks of the Alps. It’s a great place to wander around, taking in the rustic buildings and sampling the delicious local cheese. There’s not much to do in Mauren itself, but it’s a great base for exploring the rest of the country. The nearby town of Schaan is home to the royal palace and a number of interesting museums, while Vaduz, the capital, is a charming little city with a well-preserved medieval centre.
