Lepcis Magna, once a thriving and prosperous city, is now a shadow of its former self. Located in western Libya, the city was founded by the Phoenicians in the 7th century BC and prospered under Roman rule. Today, the ruins of the city are a popular tourist destination, with the impressive amphitheatre and the well-preserved Severan Baths being the most popular attractions. Lepcis Magna is also home to a number of mosques and churches, as well as a small number of Roman ruins.
