Ohrid is a lakeside town in North Macedonia, located on the eastern shore of Lake Ohrid. It is the country's second largest city, after Skopje, and the administrative center of the Ohrid Municipality. The city is noted for its many churches and monasteries, and is home to the University of Ohrid and the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Ohrid is one of the oldest cities in the Balkans and has been inhabited for over two thousand years.
