Maldives
The Maldives is an archipelago of over 1,000 coral islands (200 inhabited) in the Indian Ocean. It is located southwest of Sri Lanka. The Maldives is the smallest Asian country in both land area and population.
The Maldives is an Islamic country and most Maldivians are Sunni Muslims. There are also a small number of Christians and Hindus. Islam is the official religion, and Maldivians are required to be Muslim in order to obtain citizenship. Visitors are not required to be Muslim, but should be respectful of Islamic customs and traditions
The Maldives is a popular tourist destination for its beautiful beaches, blue lagoons, and extensive reefs. The Maldives is also known for its luxury resorts. Many of the resorts are located on their own private islands.
The most popular dish is Maldivian curry, which is made with fish, coconut milk, and a variety of spices. Other popular dishes include roasted fish, grilled fish, and rice and beans. The Maldives also has a variety of snacks and desserts, such as fried bananas and coconut cakes.
