The November weather changes dramatically as you gain altitude up from the sunny fjord base and rise to the Hardangervidda plateau. Storms hug to the snow clad mountain peaks, leaving brief windows of sunshine between their passing. In this one such moment, we stopped to admire the view. Hardangervidda National Park is Europe’s largest national park, and one of the most spectacular in the world. Straddling the border of Norway and Sweden, the park is a wild and mountainous landscape of glaciers, peaks and valleys, home to wild reindeer, bears and wolves. The park can be explored by car, bike or on foot, with plenty of well-marked trails and visitor centres. In the winter, the park is a popular destination for ski touring, snowmobiling and dog sledding. With its pristine nature and unspoilt landscapes, Hardangervidda National Park is a must-see for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.
