Huancayo is a city in the central highlands of Peru, located in the province of Junín. It is the capital of the Junín Region. The city is located at an altitude of 3,752 meters (12,303 feet) above sea level, making it the second highest city in Peru, after Puno. The city is an important commercial and agricultural center, and is also home to the Universidad Nacional de Huancayo.
