Tacloban is a city on the island of Leyte in the Philippines. It is the capital of the province of Leyte. Tacloban was the first city to be liberated during the liberation of the Philippines in World War II. The city was almost completely destroyed during the onslaught of Typhoon Haiyan on November 8, 2013.
