Abbottabad is a city in the Hazara region of Pakistan. It is located in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, and is the capital of the Abbottabad District. The city is situated in the Orash Valley, 26,000 feet (7,925 m) above sea level.
The city was founded in 1853 by Major James Abbott, a British army officer. The city was named after Abbott.
The city is well known for its natural scenery and its location in the foothills of the Himalayas.
