Multan is a city in Punjab, Pakistan. It is the fifth most populous city in Pakistan and the second most populous in the Punjab. Multan is located on the banks of the Chenab River, and is the cultural and economic center of southern Punjab. The city is noted for its Multan Sultans, a style of Mughal architecture. Multan is also the birthplace of the Multan cricket team, which is a first-class cricket team in Pakistan. Multan is also the birthplace of the Sufi saint Shah Rukn-e-Alam.
