Korolyov is a small town in the Moscow Oblast, Russia, located on the banks of the Moskva River, about 25 kilometers (16 mi) northeast of Moscow. As of the 2010 Census, its population was 171,532.

The town was founded in 1937 as a workers' settlement on the outskirts of Moscow, to provide housing for workers at the nearby Khimki Reservoir. It was granted town status in 1958.

Korolyov is home to the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center, which was founded in 1960. The center is responsible for training Russian and international astronauts for space missions.

The town is also home to the Russian Aviation and Space Agency (Roskosmos), which is headquartered in the town's Main Administration Building.
