Ramenskoye is a small town in the Moscow Oblast, Russia, located on the banks of the Moskva River. It is a popular weekend getaway for Muscovites, who come to enjoy the river atmosphere, the many parks, and the views of the city. The town was founded in the late 17th century as a serf settlement. It grew rapidly in the early 20th century as a result of the construction of the Moscow-Volga Canal. Today, it is a mostly residential town with a population of about 170,000.
