Štúrovo lies at Slovakia's southern tip along the Danube River, facing Hungary's Esztergom. The Mária Valéria Bridge connects Štúrovo to Esztergom. Originally built in 1895, then destroyed in both World Wars, it reopened in 2001. The Fair of Saints Simon and Jude brings market stalls to the town center each October. Since the 18th century, vendors have sold traditional crafts, local food, and seasonal produce at this event.
