Al-Hasakah is a city in northeastern Syria, and the capital of the Al-Hasakah Governorate. According to the 2004 census, the city had a population of 188,040. Al-Hasakah is an ethnically mixed city, and its population includes Arabs, Kurds, Assyrians, Armenians, and Chechens. The city is notable for its large Armenian population and the Armenian church located there.
