Moundou

Moundou is the economic and administrative capital of Chad. The city is located on the Logone River, which forms the border with Cameroon. The population of Moundou is estimated at 648,539 (2009). The city was founded in 1910 as a military outpost by French colonial forces. It is the home of the University of Moundou, founded in 1992. The city is also home to the Episcopal Palace, the residence of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Moundou.
