Tajikistan

Mountains, mountains, and more mountains.

Tajikistan is a landlocked country in Central Asia, bordered by Kyrgyzstan to the north, Uzbekistan to the west, Turkmenistan to the southwest, and China to the east. Tajikistan also has a short border with Afghanistan to the south. Tajikistan was once a part of the Persian Empire and the Soviet Union. The capital of Tajikistan is Dushanbe, and the official language is Tajik.

Tajikistan is a mountainous country, with an average elevation of 3,000 meters above sea level. Ninety percent of the country is covered by mountains. The highest point in Tajikistan is Mount Ismoili Somoni, at 7,495 meters.

The main reasons to visit Tajikistan are to see the beautiful mountains, and to experience the unique culture. Tajikistan is home to the Pamir Mountains, which are some of the tallest mountains in the world. The Pamir Highway is one of the most scenic roads in the world, and is a popular destination for adventure travelers. Tajikistan is also home to the ancient city of Bukhara, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The cuisine of Tajikistan is similar to that of other Central Asian countries. It is mostly meat and rice-based, with dishes such as plov (a rice dish cooked with meat and vegetables) and shurpa (a soup made with meat and vegetables).
