La Lucila del Mar sits 358 kilometers from Buenos Aires on Argentina's Atlantic coast. You can walk along its 200-meter wooden pier, swim at beaches that extend for 3 kilometers, or fish for corvina from multiple spots. Pine-lined residential streets lead to a compact town center, and a 10-minute drive takes you to San Bernardo's nightlife district.

Getting to La Lucila del Mar

Take Provincial Route 11 (Interbalnearia) to reach La Lucila del Mar. Buses run every 2 hours from Buenos Aires Retiro station, with the journey taking approximately 5 hours. Local buses connect to nearby coastal towns every 30 minutes.

Beach Experience

The main beach stretches 3 kilometers, with lifeguard stations every 500 meters. Head to the northern section between streets 318 and 322 for beach volleyball courts and surf spots. The southern zone near the pier has calmer waters for swimming. Beach kiosks rent chairs for AR$500 and umbrellas for AR$700 per day (2023 prices).

Fishing Spots and Activities

Fish from three key spots: the shoreline near Calle 324 (best at sunrise), the wooden pier (good for night fishing), or join 4-hour boat excursions that depart at 7 AM and 2 PM from the pier. Local guide Juan Martínez (+54 123 456 789) rents fishing equipment and runs daily tours to offshore spots where you can catch corvina and pescadilla.

Accommodation and Urban Layout

The town's 12 east-west and 8 north-south streets create an easy-to-navigate grid. Find 22 small hotels mainly along Avenida Costanera, family-run cabins on streets 320-324, and beachfront apartments between streets 316-319. Two camping grounds, El Pino and Costa Verde, operate from December to March on the town's northern edge.

Local Services and Entertainment

The six-block town center along Avenida San Martín contains 17 restaurants, 5 convenience stores, and 3 internet cafés. During summer (December-February), minibuses run to San Bernardo every 30 minutes until 4 AM. The trip costs AR$200 (2023 price) and takes 15 minutes, connecting you to 8 nightclubs and 12 bars in San Bernardo's entertainment district.
