Feldkirch is an ancient town in the Vorarlberg region of western Austria, nestled at the foot of the Swiss Alps. The cobbled streets and baroque architecture of the old town are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the views of the snow-capped peaks are simply breathtaking. The city is a popular base for hikers and skiers, and there’s plenty to do in the summer months too, from swimming and cycling to paragliding and white-water rafting. The locals are friendly and welcoming, and the restaurants and bars are some of the best in the country. Make sure to try the local cheese, Käsekrainer, a delicious sausage made with cheese and bacon.
