Multiple streams of water drop 25 meters from limestone cliffs into a wide emerald pool, creating natural swimming areas surrounded by moss-covered rocks and fig trees.
At Kravica Waterfall, water drops 25 meters from limestone cliffs into the Trebižat River, creating a 120-meter wide pool. Located 40 kilometers from Mostar, the 20 separate falls form deep swimming pools beneath them. Walk through caves with hanging stalactites, take a boat ride on the emerald water, or stop at a riverside restaurant for grilled trout caught in local waters.
The waterfall sits 40 kilometers south of Mostar and 10 kilometers from Ljubuški. Since there's no public transportation, you'll need to take a rental car, taxi (€70-100 for a full day), or organized tour (€35-40 for 6 hours). When driving from Mostar, follow the R424 road through Međugorje - the journey takes about 45 minutes.
Entry costs €4 from October to May, €5 in June and September, and €5.50 in July and August. While you can access the site 24 hours, staff collect tickets between 8:00 and 20:00. Parking costs €3 per hour for cars, with a daily rate of €6 available.
The water temperature stays between 15-18°C throughout summer months, making swimming comfortable from April to October. A 20-minute boat ride costs €5 per person. During summer, a temporary walking bridge lets you walk within meters of the falling water. Wear water shoes - the rocks become slippery.
Water cascades from limestone cliffs, creating multiple streams and pools. In late spring and summer afternoons, rising water vapor forms a cooling mist above the swimming area. Chaste trees, poplars, and fig trees grow around the falls, while thick moss covers many of the rocks.
Three restaurants serve local dishes including grilled trout and cevapi during summer months. You'll find changing rooms and toilets near the swimming areas. A café sells drinks and snacks, and you can use the picnic tables under the trees. Bring cash - most vendors don't accept cards due to weak mobile signal.
Walk 20-30 minutes downstream to find Mala Kravice waterfall, a smaller cascade with fewer visitors. The Humac Franciscan monastery, containing Bosnia's oldest museum (established 1884), displays archaeological artifacts from the region. For more water features, drive 20 minutes to see the 5-meter high Koćuša waterfall in Veljaci village.
