Manufacturing Giants of Jaraguá do Sul

WEG started in 1961 as a small workshop and now employs over 20,000 people in Jaraguá do Sul, producing electric motors for international markets. The textile industry creates jobs through companies like Marisol and Malwee, which manufacture clothing for the Brazilian market. Duas Rodas, founded in 1925, makes food flavorings and ingredients used by food companies across South America. These companies have turned the city into one of Brazil's main manufacturing centers.

German and Italian Heritage

About 70% of residents have German or Italian ancestry. During the annual Schützenfest in October, you'll find traditional shooting competitions at the city's shooting clubs, German folk bands playing at street corners, and dance groups performing in traditional costumes. The Chiesetta Alpina Church, with its white walls and steep roof typical of Alpine architecture, sits on a hill overlooking the city.

FEMUSC Music Festival

The Festival de Música de Santa Catarina brings classical music to Jaraguá do Sul each January. More than 200 students and teachers from across the world give daily concerts at the Cultural Center, local churches, and schools. You can attend free performances or sign up for music workshops throughout the two-week festival.

Sports and Recreation

The local futsal team, Malwee/Jaraguá, won national championships in 2005 and 2007. You can watch futsal matches at Arena Jaraguá, which has a capacity of 8,000 spectators. The city's soccer team, Grêmio Esportivo Juventus, plays home games at João Marcatto Stadium and competes in Santa Catarina state tournaments.

Summer temperatures in Jaraguá do Sul reach 35°C from December to February, when most festivals take place. Winter brings temperatures around 12°C during June and July.
