Its strategic location makes it an ideal base for exploring nearby landmarks such as the Rütli Meadow, where the Swiss Confederation was founded, and the scenic Muotatal Valley. From Brunnen, you can easily access the Urmiberg and Stoos-Fronalstock mountains, offering panoramic views of the surrounding Alps.

Brunnen has welcomed several notable figures throughout history. In 1830, Polish romantic poets Adam Mickiewicz, Zygmunt Krasiński, and Antoni Edward Odyniec stayed in the village. In 1865, King Ludwig II of Bavaria visited and had himself rowed onto the Urnersee at midnight to listen to alpine horn music. The village was also Winston Churchill's honeymoon destination. These historical connections add depth to Brunnen's cultural significance.
