What people say about San José

San Jose isn't a place I would want to spend too much time. For me, it was a place to spend a night after arriving into the country before taking a long bus ride to another part of Costa Rica. There are nice bits. Some great vegetarian restaurants like Café Rojo (which has a lovely garden area) and a couple of good specialty coffee options in the city too. However, it's quite dirty, unattractive, and not many things to do. On the plus side, the weather is typically cooler than many other parts of the country. I stayed one night when I arrived to Costa Rica at a random hostel and then at Selina for 2 nights. Selina is AMAZING. If you need a place to stay there, Selina is the best. They have hostel rooms and private rooms, a restaurant, live music, cinema, and it's BEAUTIFUL. There is practically no reason to leave the place.
