Tamanrasset is an isolated Saharan oasis town in southern Algeria, located at an altitude of 1,320 metres (4,330 ft) in the Hoggar Mountains. The town is the capital of Tamanrasset Province and has a population of 87,832 as of the 2008 census. The city is a popular tourist destination, as it is the southernmost city in Africa and has a warm climate. The city is served by Tamanrasset Airport.
