Tipaza is a sleepy town on the Mediterranean coast of Algeria, about an hour’s drive west of Algiers. It’s a popular spot for Algerians to escape the heat of the capital in the summer, and the town’s wide, sandy beach is always busy with people swimming, sunbathing and playing football. There are a few restaurants and cafes along the beach, and a few more in the town centre, but Tipaza is a far cry from the tourist traps of neighbouring Tunisia and Morocco. If you’re looking for a quiet, unspoilt beach town in Algeria, Tipaza is the place to go.
