Dole is a small commune in the Jura department in eastern France. The village is located in the valley of the Dole River, a tributary of the Ain River. The commune is best known for the production of Gruyère cheese, made from the milk of the local cows. The village is also home to the Fort l'Ecluse, a medieval fortress that is now a museum.
